A networkable (ethernet) stereo receiver? Best answer on the web

  • What stereo receivers are available now on the market that are
networkable? That is to say: a standard component stereo receiver
lets you swictch between multiple devices (such as a DVD player, CD,
Cable, etc.). I need a receiver that you can connect to a network
(ethernet) and control it remotely. An integrated MP3 player would be
nice too, as well as Dolby sound. Please help me find this. Thank you.

  • Great work. Thank you.

  • Hello curiogeorges-ga,

Below are the networkable units I could find.

    - ZapStation appears to satisfy the requirements
    http://www.zapmedia.com/products/specifications.html
ZapStation has dolby digital sound, MP3 capability, ethernet, built in DVD player, internet radio and has full remote web access according to the blurb. “The ZapStation™ can do it all. It plays CDs, DVDs, and MP3s. And, through the ZapMediaSM Portal, named the ZapZone and your high-speed Internet connection, you can access music, movies, streaming video, video downloads, Internet radio, Web surfing, and more.“ Competitor comparison and main feature analysis chart

    - Motorola DCP501 almost does what you require except for the remote access. http://www.gi.com/dcp/about%5Fdcp/overview.html
“is packed with features combining a DVD/CD/MP3 player, 5x100 watts per channel amplifier, AM/FM stereo receiver and an interactive Digital Cable Receiver within a convenient, space-saving design that redefines home entertainment.” Dolby sound too. “The DCP platform also provides the gateway to interactive services* such as video-on-demand movies, local source information, interactive program guides, more channels of impulse pay-per-view movies and events, Internet access and more”
    - Kenwood Entre again has most of the features except remote access or Dolby sound. http://www.iapplianceweb.com/appReview/IAW_AUDIO_PLAYERS/23
“With the ability to control your audio receiver, DVD player, and digital media files, it will not only enter your home, but probably take over your whole entertainment center. The Entre is equipped with an internal CD-R/RW drive, a 20 GB internal hard disk drive, an internal 56 kbps v.90 modem, and cable modem or DSL access via USB connection” “The device can be managed via a PC using the included application, or you can use the remote control or component buttons. The Entre is also equipped with multi-room capabilities via Home PNA 2.0 connection, so you can stream MP3s, CDs, or Internet radio to up to four rooms in your house. And of course, there is the video aspect of this device, which will allow you to play DVDs on-screen using the video input/output connectors.” “You can rip MP3 files from CDs or transfer MP3 files from portable players using the USB connection. As for Internet audio, you can connect directly to the Internet without using a computer through the internal modem, a cable modem, or DSL line using a USB to Ethernet connector to retrieve streaming radio” -Connections
